I’ve been looking for a good Jewish deli in my area (Portage Park). It’s not my neighborhood but Oak Park/Elmwood Park is close enough. I heard about this place and had to go after looking at reviews. I was a happy girl from the time I walked in the door. The place looks like a true deli. No fake oval processed meats ... in shrink wrap, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, and it was so clean. Armando, the manager, even gave me a tour of the back room bakery where friendly ladies were making fresh bagels! He must be known how excited I was because he gave me two free bagels when I paid. I ordered a hot corned beef and Swiss on rye. The meat was sliced perfectly thin, piled high and I could see the grain in the meat, which I love. It was tender and oh so flavorful! Stopped here on our way from the city to the burbs to do some shopping - amazing choice on our part. Best lox I’ve had in Chicago, and that’s coming from an East Coaster. They give you a lot too so I’m taking leftovers home with extra bagels! A worthy stop.
